Farm Administration Manager

Eastern Farms Ltd are arable farmers and agricultural contractors farming approximately 6,500 acres in Cambridgeshire.

An opportunity has arisen for a Farm Administration Manager at our central office in Somersham, Cambs. This is a full-time equivalent position, working 5 days/week with occasional overtime. For the right individual(s), job-share would be considered.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, proactive and able to work under their own initiative, ideally with at least 2 years’ relevant experience. A qualification in Rural Land Management would be preferred but not essential. The role reports directly to the Estate Director working alongside him to propel the business forward.

Responsibilities will be to:

• Oversee staff on day-to-day Xero accounts software, including payroll, holiday entitlement and pension contributions.
• Manage staff timesheets and take responsibility for RTI submission to HMRC.
• Manage submission of monthly VAT returns liaising with external accountant.
• Provide PA support to the Director and manage meetings and filing where required.
• Be responsible for Red Tractor assurance, general compliance and TASCC for our lorry.
• Monitor budgets, produce cashflows and financial reports for the Director.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and monitor vehicle MOTs, RFLs and regular maintenance of all vehicles including grain lorry.
• Prepare RPA submissions and agricultural grant applications.
• Liaise with our landlords for CFAs and attend quarterly meetings, taking minutes and following up on all matters arising.
• Liaise with our insurance providers ensuring the policies remain correct throughout the year and obtaining quotes ahead of renewal to ensure they remain competitive.
• Take control of grain marketing, dealing with traders to obtain best prices and maintaining our grain stock records.
• Maintain SOYL records, process P&K requirements produce variable rate seed plans and associated shape files, transferring to our operators both wirelessly and manually.
• Calculate seed requirements, organise seed purchase, prepare operator drilling plans.
• Prepare records for baling/chasing staff to ensure bale stock records remain accurate.
• Always promote the business and remain alert to new opportunities.

Skilled Arable Operator/Estate maintenance

We are looking for operators who are enthusiastic and motivated, show attention to detail, a clean, tidy and polite approach and complete respect for our machinery.

Arable operator required for farm maintenance. Jobs to include hedging, flail mowing, ditching, drain jetting, strimming and chainsaw work. There will be other general arable duties during our busy season. 360 digger driver ticket would be an advantage to operate our JCB 140X, used for tree shearing and track maintenance. Telehandler licence would also be an advantage.

All applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and be 21+. We offer comprehensive training and modern farm machinery.
